Hospital Water and Fire Main
We supported the main contractor in installing a 225mm fire main and 180mm potable water main to this new-build hospital. We were responsible for the jointing and connection of both fire main and water main pipes including the installation of fire hydrants, air, non return and isolation (AVK) valves, construction of manifolds to accommodate water meters and drain/flush valves at locations for water board connections to the mains supply. The pipe work was trenched in and bedded with sand material and warning tape laid above. The connections varied form butt weld jointing to electrofusion, flanged and compression fittings. Upon the completion of each section of works a pressure test was carried out to check the integrity of the pipe run and joints.
